Most ministry “training” hands people information and hopes it changes how they care. Certification is different. It develops a competency, holds it to a standard, and recognizes the people who meet it — because the person entrusted with someone’s pain should be formed for the weight of it, not just briefed on it.
Certification develops competency across the whole of SAFE — seeing, assessing, forming, and equipping — together with the Playbook practices that put it into responsible daily use: intake, discernment, boundaries, escalation, referral, follow-up, and knowing the limits of a role. A certified facilitator is qualified to lead others through that methodology, not simply to have read it.

Every church can equip its people with the Playbook. Some leaders go further and become certified to facilitate it — to lead their care team, group leaders, and volunteers through the methodology themselves. The Playbook is included with certification; there is nothing to buy first.

The credential is held by the individual, not the church. Care Ministry and Small Groups are contexts a facilitator works in — not separate certifications.
