A movement advancing psychologically informed ministry.
Psychologically safe. Theologically sound.
Where psychology, theology, and formation meet.
Safe & Sound exists at the intersection of psychology, theology, Christian formation, pastoral care, and ministry practice.
It develops frameworks, training, resources, and tools that help Christians and churches understand people more deeply and minister more faithfully.

Why I started Safe & Sound
For years I watched people sincerely love Jesus while quietly carrying anxiety, shame, grief, trauma, and questions they didn’t know how to bring into church. Many were taught what to believe. Far fewer were shown how God meets us in the realities of being human.
The longer I served as a pastor, the more convinced I became that discipleship wasn’t simply about learning more information. It was about becoming a different kind of person.
Eventually I realized the church needed a more psychologically informed way of ministering to people — not a softer gospel, but a wiser, more faithful practice of forming them. Everything we build — research, assessment, training, curriculum, books — serves that one conviction.
I’m grateful you’re here. My hope is that this becomes a place that helps you — and the people you minister to — grow whole: psychologically safe, and theologically sound.

Paul Miller is a lead pastor in Atlanta, GA, with a BA in psychology and an MA in theology. His Doctor of Ministry research at Fuller Theological Seminary is developing and evaluating the SAFE Framework as a psychologically informed pastoral-care framework for church health — work that sits at the intersection of ministry practice, theology, and psychological understanding. Everything Safe & Sound builds — the framework, the Playbook, the assessment, training, and tools — serves that one conviction.
The safest place to tell the truth should be the church. We exist to help it become one.
